Ethiopia - February 19, 2010

Chemonics seeks a program manager for an anticipated USAID-funded health infrastructure project in Ethiopia. The project will focus on constructing new Government of Ethiopia (GOE)-standard health centers in geographical areas of demonstrable above-average HIV prevalence; constructing federal and regional warehouses; and the renovation of selected GOE-standard health centers to support public health services, including antiretroviral therapy services. Responsibilities include: provide overall project management and direction, serve as the primary liaison with USAID and host-country stakeholders, and supervise technical and administrative personnel.

 Qualifications:
 
  • Advanced degree in engineering, management, development, or related field
  • Minimum 15 years of experience managing health infrastructure programs
  • Minimum 10 years of experience working with local contractors on health infrastructure programs in rural areas and/or developing countries
  • Knowledge of FAR and FIDIC regulations for construction contracting
  • Knowledge of USAID operations, programming, and structure
  • Understanding of the political, social, and cultural context of Ethiopia; experience working in Ethiopia and on programs with similar development challenges strongly preferred
